Last Thursday evening, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Police Department joined forces with the Patriot Guard Riders to give a warm welcome to Airman Ben Rosengarden as he returned home from Afghanistan. The community came together to celebrate his service and dedication, with a special dinner held in his honor at the Village Bar & Grill in Buffalo Grove.
As part of the heartfelt tribute, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department had several units present to show their respect and gratitude. Meanwhile, members of both the Buffalo Grove and Deerfield police departments played a key role in escorting the procession from Deerfield to the dinner venue in Buffalo Grove. Alongside them, a dedicated contingent from the Patriot Guard Riders ensured the journey was nothing short of memorable.
One of the highlights of the evening was the impressive display by Buffalo Grove Tower Ladder 25, which stood tall with an American flag fluttering proudly. This poignant moment was captured beautifully in a photograph by Larry Shapiro, who also documented other touching scenes throughout the event. In another image, a Buffalo Grove police officer can be seen leading the convoy that safely guided Airman Rosengarden to the celebratory dinner.
The procession itself was a sight to behold, as it drove triumphantly beneath an American flag held high, with members of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department standing in perfect formation to honor the returning hero. Inside the Village Bar & Grill, Airman Rosengarden was greeted warmly by the firefighters, who took the opportunity to personally thank him for his service and sacrifices.
