The Northbrook Fire Department responded to a fire call this morning at a floral shop located at 1353 Shermer Road, in the heart of downtown Northbrook. When the first police officers arrived, they reported heavy smoke coming from the store. Northbrook Tower 12, the first fire unit on scene, confirmed the situation and quickly upgraded the call to a Code 4 working fire. This prompted additional resources, including an engine from Glencoe and a truck from Northfield, along with two engines, two ambulances, and the tower ladder from Northbrook. Tim Olk was on site and captured several images of the incident. The fire, believed to be electrical, was contained quickly before mutual aid units arrived, allowing them to return to their stations shortly after. A photo shows light smoke escaping from the front door of the florist shop, while another image captures firefighters waiting for instructions in front of the building. Northbrook Tower 12 was the first suppression unit to arrive, and Engine 11, a Pierce Impel, had a hose line deployed at the scene. Another image shows firefighters exiting the store after conducting a thorough check for any signs of fire extension. Tim has compiled a gallery of photos from the event, offering a detailed visual account of the response and the aftermath. His images provide a real-time look at how the fire department handled the emergency with efficiency and professionalism.
