The Northbrook Fire Department responded to a fire call this morning at a floral shop located at 1353 Shermer Road in the heart of downtown Northbrook. When first responders arrived, they reported heavy smoke coming from the building. Northbrook Tower 12, the first engine on scene, conducted a quick size-up and confirmed the severity of the situation. The incident was escalated to a Code 4 working fire, prompting additional resources, including an engine from Glencoe and a truck from Northfield, along with two engines, two ambulances, and the tower ladder from Northbrook.
Tim Olk, a local photographer, was on site and captured several images of the event. One photo shows light smoke escaping from the front door of the florist shop, while another features firefighters waiting for instructions in front of the building. Northbrook Tower 12 was the first suppression unit to arrive, and Northbrook Engine 11, a Pierce Impel, had a line deployed at the fire. After the blaze was quickly contained, mutual aid units were released back to their stations.
Tim has shared a full gallery of photos from the incident, offering a visual account of the response and the aftermath. Another image shows firefighters exiting the store after conducting a search for any signs of fire extension. The quick action by the firefighters helped prevent further damage, and no injuries have been reported so far.
