Submarine cable classification:
1. Impregnated paper cable

2. Self-contained oil-filled cable
Suitable for DC or AC lines up to 750kV. Because the cable is oil-filled, it can be laid without difficulty in a water depth of 500m.
3. Squeeze Insulation (Crosslinked Polyethylene Insulation, Ethylene Propylene Rubber Insulation) Cables
Suitable for up to 200kV AC voltage. Ethylene-propylene rubber is more effective than polyethylene in preventing branching and local leakage, allowing the submarine cable to function more effectively.
4. "Hydraulic" tube cable
This is only applicable to cable systems of several kilometers in length, because very long cables must be pulled into the pipes, subject to very large mechanical restrictions.
5. Inflatable (pressure assist) cable
Inflatable cables using impregnated paper bags are more suitable for longer submarine cable networks than oil-filled cables, but due to the need to use high-pressure operations in deep water, this increases the difficulty of designing cables and their accessories, generally limited to a depth of 300m.
