The Countryside Fire Protection District has been conducting a series of training exercises for several weeks at 27693 Chevy Chase Road in Mundelein. The homeowner generously donated the house for fire training, with the condition that it would be fully burned down to make way for a new construction project. Local photographer Dan McInerney captured some great shots of the new Rosenbauer Centurion engine and tender from US Tanker, which you can view HERE.
Last Sunday, the department opened its doors to the public, inviting local residents, neighboring fire departments, CERT members, and anyone interested in watching controlled burns to witness the event. Among the attendees was Larry Shapiro, who took the opportunity to capture some powerful images of the new Rosenbauer engine against the backdrop of the burning home. A full gallery of photos is available HERE, along with an upcoming video documenting the day.
Fire departments from Wauconda, Long Grove, and Libertyville provided tankers to ensure a steady water supply throughout the exercise. Notably, the Libertyville Fire Department received a 1988 Pierce Dash tanker (1250/2500) from Countryside earlier this year, which has since been re-lettered for Libertyville service.
