As part of the ongoing updates on MABAS Division 21, the North Palos Fire Protection District has recently joined our coverage area. This district operates from three strategically located stations, with one of them being the former Worth Fire Department. The transition took place back in January 2009 when Worth's personnel, equipment, and facilities were fully integrated into the North Palos Fire Protection District. The headquarters for the North Palos Fire Protection District is located at Station 1, a central hub that serves as the administrative and operational center for the district. Known for its strategic importance, this station houses some of the most critical resources and personnel who are always prepared to respond to emergencies promptly. A recent photograph captured by Larry Shapiro showcases the impressive setup of Station 1, highlighting its readiness and efficiency. Over time, the district has acquired various pieces of equipment, each playing a vital role in their operations. For instance, Worth Fire Department's Engine 6723, a robust 1990 Spartan/FMC 1250/500, has been rechristened as North Palos Engine 833. This engine remains a testament to the district's commitment to maintaining high-quality firefighting capabilities. Another notable addition is Worth's Engine 6713, a powerful 2004 E-ONE Typhoon 1500/750, now serving as North Palos Engine 823. These vehicles represent the district's dedication to modern firefighting technology and reliability. On the other hand, some assets have seen different fates. Worth's Car 6700, a 2001 Ford Expedition, was once a vital part of their fleet but is now repurposed as a public works vehicle. Similarly, their Ambulance 6712, a 1999 IHC 4700/Road Rescue Type I, has transitioned into North Palos Ambulance 822, continuing to provide essential medical support services. The evolution of the North Palos Fire Protection District is not just about acquiring new equipment; it's also about preserving the legacy of its predecessors. Worth's contributions to the community are evident in the continued use of their vehicles, albeit under new names and roles. This integration reflects the district's ability to adapt and grow while honoring its past. Looking forward, the district continues to explore opportunities for expansion and improvement. The integration of former Worth assets has significantly bolstered their operational capacity, ensuring that they remain well-equipped to handle any emergency situation. As the district progresses, it is clear that the combination of tradition and innovation will continue to drive their success. With these developments, the North Palos Fire Protection District stands as a model of cooperation and progress within MABAS Division 21, setting an example for other districts to follow.
