OmniVision Releases 1/18-inch Video CMOS Sensor
OmniVision Technologies Inc., a U.S.-based company, has unveiled the world's smallest video image sensor, the OV6920. This CMOS sensor measures just 1/18 inch in size, which is significantly smaller than the typical 1/12 to 1/7 inch sensors found in similar devices. The chip itself is compact, measuring 2.1 x 2.3 mm, and can be integrated into a 3.2 mm camera module.

The small size of the OV6920 makes it ideal for minimally invasive medical procedures. It allows for the development of more compact medical devices such as disposable cameras, intubation systems, and endoscopes—making them more suitable for use in infants and small children.
