I arrived at the scene around 6 a.m. on Saturday to capture some photos of a fire that had just occurred. Engine Company 115 was the first engine on the scene and discovered heavy smoke coming from an unoccupied, single-story, 150 by 100-foot grocery store. Upon entering the building, firefighters found the fire to be in the loading dock area with no structural involvement yet.

It’s always interesting to see how quickly the fire department responds and how they handle these situations. I’ve been documenting fires in Chicago for several years now, and each one tells a different story.
