The first domestic dual purpose concrete mixer was introduced
The dual-use concrete mixer truck, jointly developed by China Railway Construction Corporation, the Institute of Military Transportation Design, and Shanghai Huadong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., has recently been officially launched and successfully passed the technical appraisal by a reputable authority. This groundbreaking vehicle meets all safety and stability requirements, marking a significant milestone as the first such model in China. It provides advanced technology and equipment that will greatly support the development of railway construction across the country.
This innovative dual-purpose concrete mixer truck is built upon existing mature models, but with key modifications to allow operation on both railways and highways. At the front and rear ends of the chassis, guide steel wheels are installed, ensuring that the vehicle can only travel on designated single-track routes. The truck is equipped with two single-axle bogies. When operating on highways, the lifting mechanism and air suspension system raise the bogies and secure them to the chassis, allowing for normal highway driving. However, when transitioning to standard gauge railways, the system lifts the front wheels and guides them onto the bogie mounted at the front of the chassis.
Comprehensive testing was conducted to evaluate the vehicle’s performance during cornering, suspension deformation, and concrete flow in both empty and fully loaded conditions. All tests confirmed that the truck maintains excellent stability and meets all design expectations.
Recently, these dual-use concrete mixer trucks played a crucial role in the tunnel construction project in Lianjiangkou Town, Yingde City, Guangdong Province, along the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway Dedicated Line. They completely replaced the traditional method of using small gantry cranes and buckets, significantly improving the speed and quality of ballastless track construction. Shanghai Huajian dispatched technical teams to monitor the trucks’ performance on-site and addressed issues such as construction speed, concrete sedimentation, and segregation. As a result, the project achieved a daily pouring progress of 120 meters for ballastless tracks, dramatically reducing the previous delays caused by waiting for concrete. The construction speed increased by more than four times compared to earlier methods.
