UHV DC with a large cross-section wire made a breakthrough

April 15, led by China Electric Power Research Institute of Science and Technology project "UHV DC with 1520mm2 wire research and engineering application technology" passed the acceptance. The project made a technological breakthrough in the development of 1520mm2 wire conductor, the deformation coefficient in the compression ratio calculation formula of the molded strand, and the low-frequency self-damping characteristics of the large cross-section wire.

In recent years, China has successfully developed 900mm2, 1000mm2, 1250mm2 large cross-section wire, and obtained engineering applications, but with the development of technology and changes in relevant conditions, China's existing large cross-section wire can not fully meet the development of UHVDC technology And the needs of engineering construction, there is an urgent need to develop larger cross-section conductors to meet the requirements of safe, reliable, technologically advanced and energy-saving and environmental protection of UHVDC.

Since 2014, the project successfully developed two kinds of 1520mm2 large cross-section wire, and completed the development of related fittings, research and development of construction equipment, research on construction technology, research on anti-vibration technology and anti-dance technology for the application of large cross-section conductor. UHV engineering provides a solid technical support.
