Saturday morning, around 9 AM, I received a message from Eric Haak about an unfolding situation near Chicago. He mentioned that Tower Ladder 14 had called in while traveling down Chicago Avenue. They reported seeing signs of smoke in the vicinity but hadn’t yet identified whether it was from an auto fire or a garage fire. The firefighters were actively searching for the source.
Within minutes, they updated their status, confirming there was a building fire on Karlov. By the time I arrived shortly after the initial response teams, it was clear this was more than just a small incident. Firefighters were dealing with a significant blaze at the rear of an occupied two-flat. Unfortunately, the residents were not home at the time, which heightened concerns over potential danger.
Attached are several photos taken by Eric Haak that capture different moments during the firefighting efforts. In one image, you can see firefighters carrying a ladder toward the burning structure, clearly working to access the flames. Another shows a brave firefighter ascending a ladder as smoke billows out of a window—a testament to their dedication amidst challenging conditions.
Other images depict the intensity of the fire itself, with flames bursting through windows and thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky. One shot captures the view from the back porches of nearby buildings, offering a perspective on how visible and disruptive the fire became for the surrounding neighborhood. There’s also a dramatic photo showing flames overtaking part of the building, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
For scale, another picture features a Chicago fire truck positioned at the scene, its presence a reassuring symbol of emergency services hard at work. These visuals paint a vivid picture of what transpired that day—a reminder of both the risks faced by first responders and the importance of swift action when emergencies arise.
It’s always sobering to witness such scenes, especially knowing lives could have been endangered. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the firefighters managed to control the situation effectively. This incident underscores the critical role our emergency services play in keeping communities safe, even under difficult circumstances.

The best quality adhesive wooden door seals on the market have a relatively long service life, with 3M brand being particularly prominent. However, there are also many counterfeit and inferior products on the market that require users to carefully distinguish.
Slot type wooden door sealing strip: mostly used at the bottom of the door or other places with similar requirements. The design of this sealing strip is more professional and suitable for situations that require more precise installation. These two types of sealing strips have their own characteristics and are suitable for different installation environments and requirements. Choosing the appropriate type of sealing strip is crucial for ensuring the sealing performance and service life of the door.
