On Tuesday, I witnessed a fire break out at 5038 South May Street. When Battalion 15 arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the attic of a two-and-a-half-story, balloon-frame house. The fire initially ignited on the first floor, spreading upward through the walls and into the attic space. Engine 50 quickly deployed two lines, while Truck 18 focused on setting up operations on the roof. These images below give you a glimpse of what happened that day. It was an intense scene, but seeing everyone work together made it feel like a well-coordinated effort. I’m grateful to have been able to capture these moments and share them with others who might appreciate the dedication and hard work of our local firefighting teams.
