This just happened earlier today. Around 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7th, Calumet Park Fire Department and mutual aid companies were dispatched to a structure fire at the intersection of 127th and Justine. Chief 2200 arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from the rear of a single-story, 20x20-foot office/utility annex connected to a three-story, 35x70-foot, ordinary-style apartment building above a storefront. Calumet Park's Engine 2224 quickly followed, arriving and deploying to the rear of the building where they managed to direct their main hose toward the roof.
Assistance came swiftly from Garden Homes Fire Protection District, Marionette Park, Robbins, Alsip fire departments, along with a Posen ambulance. Riverdale’s acting chief and a Marionette Park deputy chief also provided support. Interestingly, Garden Homes arrived second to the scene, almost bypassing everyone else, and immediately got to work.
This particular building had undergone extensive renovations following a major fire about six or seven years prior.

The fire department worked diligently to control the situation, and thankfully there were no reports of injuries. It’s always impressive to see how different departments can come together during emergencies like these.
