300t/a high-performance spherical nickel hydroxide project passed certification
The "300t/a high-performance spherical nickel hydroxide" developed by the Beijing Nonferrous Metal Research Institute has successfully passed technical appraisal. Experts have highlighted that the project has introduced a novel, integrated wet process with independent intellectual property rights. This innovative method enables crystal nucleus formation, crystal growth, and particle size control within a single reactor in a continuous reaction system. The process uniquely suppresses colloidal formation, accelerates crystal growth, and manages periodic nucleation through the use of a draft tube and precise pH control. Additionally, on-line inspection technology ensures consistency and stability in the production of spherical nickel hydroxide, as well as uniform performance across different batches. These advancements significantly outperform existing technologies both domestically and internationally, placing the project at the forefront of global standards. The technology has already secured four national invention patents.
The engineering technology for high-performance spherical nickel hydroxide features automated control, closed-loop continuous operation, environmental friendliness, and efficient resource utilization, fully aligning with national environmental protection requirements. According to inspections by the official national testing institution, the physical and chemical properties, as well as electrochemical performance of the product, have reached international advanced levels. The product has been tested and approved by renowned domestic and international companies, including Matsushita Electric Co., Ltd., and is now being purchased in large quantities.
With this breakthrough technology, 20 continuous production lines of 300t/a capacity have been established, giving an accumulated annual production capacity of 6,000t. By July 2005, the total production value had surpassed 1 billion yuan, with foreign exchange earnings reaching 8 million U.S. dollars. The technology has brought significant economic and social benefits, marking a major milestone in the field of nickel hydroxide production.
