SAN FRANCISCO & PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) and Siemens have announced a new interoperability agreement designed to help manufacturers reduce the costs and complexities associated with using multiple CAD software systems. The collaboration between Autodesk and Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) divisions aims to improve compatibility between their respective software solutions, making it easier for companies to manage data across different platforms.
In today’s fast-paced manufacturing environment, businesses are under pressure to deliver high-quality products quickly while keeping costs low. Many organizations use a mix of CAD tools from various vendors, both internally and with external partners. This multi-CAD setup can lead to inefficiencies, data loss, and increased expenses. Interoperability has therefore become a top priority for engineers and designers who need seamless data exchange between systems.
This new agreement is intended to simplify the process of working with multiple CAD platforms by enabling better integration between Siemens and Autodesk software. Both companies will share technology and collaborate on developing interoperable solutions that can be marketed together. This move is expected to reduce the time and effort required to maintain multi-CAD environments, ultimately saving companies money and improving productivity.
Lisa Campbell, Vice President of Manufacturing Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk, said, “Interoperability is a key challenge for our customers, and we are committed to building an open ecosystem that supports their diverse needs. Our goal is to give users the flexibility they need to work efficiently across different platforms.â€
Dr. Stefan Jockusch, Vice President of Strategy at Siemens PLM Software, added, “The lack of compatibility between CAD systems has long been a pain point for manufacturers. By partnering with Autodesk, we’re taking another important step toward fostering openness and reducing costs across the global manufacturing industry.â€
