From Tim Olk:

Chicago Fire Department Engine 58 and Fast Boat 688 were on the scene assisting with a fire at a junkyard located at 5001 W. 40th Street in Stickney. The incident involved several large piles of scrap metal and debris, which made for a challenging firefighting situation. Emergency crews worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby structures.

Sealant

A sealant or gasket adhesive is an adhesive used in engines to create a tight seal between engine components.
Here are four key functions of sealant in the engine:

1. Prevent leakage: sealant is used to fill the gap between engine components to prevent oil, coolant and other liquids from leaking. This helps keep engine parts properly lubricated and cooled, preventing damage and overheating.

2. Reduce vibration: the sealant can help suppress the vibration of the engine, reduce the wear of components, and improve the overall performance.

3. High temperature resistance: The engine sealant is designed to withstand high temperatures, ensuring that it remains effective under extreme operating conditions.

4. Improve durability: By creating a strong bond between engine components, the sealant helps improve the durability of the engine and reduces the need for expensive maintenance.

In general, sealant is an important component in engine design and is the key to ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the engine for a long time.
