We’re excited to announce a major set of updates tailored for our architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) customers. These improvements are all about making your design workflows more efficient, collaborative, and cloud-ready. From enhanced document management to new tools for content authors and reviewers, we're helping you move fully into the digital age with seamless remote collaboration.

These updates are built on the power of BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud, offering a unified platform that connects data, teams, and workflows across the entire building lifecycle—from initial design through to operations. Whether you're working from the office, the field, or anywhere in between, these tools will help you stay connected and productive.

  • Starting next year, Autodesk Docs will be included in the AEC Collection. This powerful tool offers a centralized hub where users can manage, share, and review designs and models—all in one place. With this addition, the hundreds of thousands of AEC Collection users will now have access to a single source of truth for their projects.
  • We're also launching Autodesk BIM Collaborate, a new solution designed specifically for non-authoring collaborators like project managers, owners, and virtual design and construction specialists. Built on the Autodesk Construction Cloud, it allows teams to align around design intent and constructability in a shared, cloud-based environment.
  • As a third update, our popular BIM 360 Design offering will evolve into Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro. This version will bring enhanced model coordination, Insights, and deeper integration with the Autodesk Construction Cloud, giving customers a full suite of tools for managing complex projects.

In addition to these updates, we've improved how AutoCAD integrates with the AEC workflow. Today, the Autodesk Docs Extension for AutoCAD plug-in allows users to publish CAD drawings as PDFs directly from AutoCAD to either Autodesk Docs or BIM 360—making it easier than ever to keep project data organized and accessible.

At the core of these updates is our commitment to making your data more accessible, your work more flexible, and your collaboration more powerful. Whether you're designing, reviewing, or managing a project, these tools are here to support you every step of the way.

New Value for the AEC Collection

The AEC Collection will now include document management, project dashboards, and reporting capabilities through Autodesk Docs—powered by the Autodesk Construction Cloud. With a bring-your-own subscription model, project owners can invite both internal and external team members to join a project, creating a more flexible and inclusive collaboration environment.

Autodesk Docs serves as the foundation of the common data environment, bringing together drawings, models, specifications, photos, and markups in one place. It streamlines workflows with version control and standardized approval processes, ensuring that everyone has access to the right information at the right time, no matter where they are working.

New Offering for Non-Authoring Contributors

We’ve seen a growing number of AEC professionals conducting design reviews in the cloud without needing access to design creation tools. These contributors simply need to review changes within the broader context of the project. Until now, their options were limited—but with BIM Collaborate, they can now easily view in-progress changes on desktop or mobile devices, even if they’re not an Autodesk subscriber.

Features like the project timeline, aggregated model viewing, and change review provide deep insights into the real-time status of the design phase. Plus, with model coordination tools like clash detection and issue tracking, teams can ensure high-quality outcomes and reduce rework before it reaches the field.

Pro Version Enables Full Project Lifecycle Collaboration

When Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro launches next year, existing customers will gain access to advanced coordination features and deeper project analytics. They’ll continue to benefit from cloud-based collaboration tools such as Design Collaboration, Revit Cloud Worksharing, and Collaboration for Civil 3D and Plant 3D.

These updates are part of our ongoing mission to create an open, interoperable environment that supports seamless workflows across all your tools and platforms. We’re eager to see how our customers leverage these new capabilities to enhance collaboration and efficiency throughout every stage of their projects. Learn more at Autodesk University this week, and stay tuned for the full launch of these exciting offerings next year.
